This 17-story 165,000 SF building is located in Manhattan's Garment District. Originally built in 1926, it features beautiful turn of the century terracotta decorative motifs and adobe. Our firm was retained to investigate structural and severe water penetration issues affecting the existing lower levels of the building as well as the sidewalk vault underneath the entire length of 29th Street. This full service project included programming, design development, construction documents, coordination of probe tests for steel, concrete, and asbestos investigation, contract administration and monitoring. One challenging aspect of this project was obtaining the many necessary permits from all the different Agencies involved as well as having to work around the several retail and commercial spaces on the ground floor of the building, immediately adjacent to the vault restoration area.
